Night Out with Nature: “Native People of the Chesapeake” with Brina Doyle – Adults. Spend your evening at Cromwell Valley Park with our guest speaker and enjoy dessert. The first people to live in what is now the state of Maryland, arrived before the Chesapeake Bay even existed. Who are they? What did their traditional way of life look like? And where does our information about their history come from? Learn about the Native people who populated our tidewater region from prehistory to colonial times. Brina is currently a ranger and educator with Cromwell Valley Park and has been a part of Baltimore County Department of Recreation and Parks for the past 12 years. In this time, she has studied and practiced many traditional living skills including friction fire, cordage making, trapping, pottery, shelter building, open fire cooking, and more. She will be sharing her research from her previous employment as the Site Supervisor of the Woodland Indian Hamlet at Historic St. Mary’s City, a living history museum in southern Maryland.
