Discovering Nature
Cromwell Valley Park has earned quite a reputation among birders and nature lovers from around the Baltimore-Washington area. From white-tailed deer to box turtles, red foxes to red-tailed hawks, the park has a great deal to offer to any wildlife enthusiast. Being so close to urbanized Towson adds to the importance of our 460 acre passive use park for people and for the environment. Please enjoy our wildlife lists, which include a complete, printable bird list as well as many pictures. Also, be sure to check the park’s schedule for more information on organized wildlife programs for the whole family and visit the live animal and hands-on displays in the Willow Grove Nature Education Center. Organized bird walks are sponsored several times a season on Saturdays and Sundays. Please contact us for more information!
Trail Camera
While located just minutes from the Baltimore beltway, Cromwell Valley Park is home to a surprising number of animals. White-tailed deer, squirrels, chipmunks and rabbits are all very common in the park. If you are lucky, you may also see a red fox, groundhog, or even a flying squirrel! Check out our trail camera to see who is caught on film!
SNAKES!
In 2019, the Maryland Department of Natural Resources published a photograph guide to the most common Maryland snakes.
